Paul Mac is a leading figure in Australian electronic music
He is a composer, songwriter, musician and producer. He’s also a multi ARIA and APRA songwriter award winner for his work with underground dance pioneers Itch-E & Scratch-E and for his own solo work. Paul has won Australian Dance Music Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Dance and Producer Of The Year.
Paul’s remix duo, Stereogamous, has worked with artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Rufus Du Sol, George Michael and Kylie. He has released an album under the moniker, The Dissociatives, with Daniel Johns.
Paul Mac is an experienced composer of film, TV and theatre scores. He has worked with Bangarra on the acclaimed productions – 'BlAk' and 'Miyagan' from OUR LAND PEOPLE STORIES – and created an original score for a restored version of Australia’s first hit romantic comedy, 1919’s The Sentimental Bloke.
In 2020, Paul’s original theatre show ‘The Rise and Fall of St George’ was performed to soldout crowds at Sydney Mardi Gras Festival, Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival and Sydney Festival.
His most recent album Mesmerism was nominated for the prestigious Australia Music Prize and to celebrate the twenty year anniversary of his club anthem, “Just The Thing (feat. Peta Morris)”, Paul has released a fresh remix package.
A longtime graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Paul Mac added Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition to his qualifications in 2021. Call him Dr. Mac.
