Australian singer/songwriter Jarryd James began making waves in late 2014 with his soulful take on electronic-laced R&B and indie pop. Working with veteran producer Joel Little (, ), the Brisbane native recorded his debut single, "Do You Remember," which peaked at number two on the Australian pop charts upon its release in January 2015. Successful tours supporting acts like and quickly led to his own headlining tour later that spring. James' follow-up single, "Give Me Something," arrived in early summer, followed by his first North American appearances. His debut album, Thirty One, was released in September 2015 and debuted at number two on the Australian ARIA Charts. The album produced a handful of singles with "Do You Remember," "Give Me Something," "Regardless," and "Sure Love." A year later, James returned with the EP High, which featured all of the singles from Thirty One along with several additional tracks, including the single "1000x" with New Zealand's . A second single from the album, "How Do We Make It," appeared in 2017. James returned in 2019 with the single "Slow Motion."
